Jiani (Anny) Liu is an artist and art therapist based in New York. She graduated from UC Irvine with bachelor's degrees in Art and Psychology and Social Behaviors, and later obtained a MPS degree in Art Therapy from the School of Visual Arts.

 

With a focus on client-centered approach, Jiani specializes in mental health counseling using creative modalities. In her art therapy practice, she aims to create a safe space for her clients to explore their challenges through reflective art-making. In addition to her clinical work, Jiani is also dedicated to promoting mental health awareness in Asian communities by hosting art therapy-inspired open workshops. These workshops aim to foster community cohesion and provide a space for individuals to engage in self-care and self-exploration outside of traditional clinical settings.

 

In her personal artwork, Jiani explores the relationship between spontaneous art-making, personal history, and the unconscious mind. By visualizing amorphous emotional states, she initiates dialogues about vulnerability, childhood memory, and the intricacy of the human experience.

 

Jiani is committed to both her art therapy practice and her personal artistic endeavors. Her work emphasizes the profound impact that art can have on one’s humanhood and psychological well-being.
